Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Feb 4, 2026

Note: The Jets were travelling back from Dallas on Tuesday ahead of their final game before the final game before the Olympic break. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 9:30 AM CST so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note II: Join us at 12 noon for a Special Edition of Illegal Curve Hockey live from Cityplace as we reflect on all things Jets. It’s also a special day for us as it is the 17th anniversary of Illegal Curve first hitting the airwaves in Manitoba back on Red River Radio.

Note III: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Montreal, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.

Note IV: The Moose practiced on Tuesday in Winnipeg as they try to keep their momentum going having won five of six games. They’ll need it against a tough Stars team who they will face twice in Texas starting on Friday. Today is a travel day for the team.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Another dark Olympic day for Jets’ Mark Scheifele. Paul wrote about yesterday’s news that Sam Bennett, not Mark Scheifele, was the player added to the Canadian Olympic roster to replace Anthony Cirelli.

Winnipeg Free Press: High climb in standings still needed for Jets. (Paywall). So you’re saying there’s a chance. Sure but it’s under 5%.

Working hard on a daily basis to provide the latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news for our readers and listeners. I also appear on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show every Saturday on our YouTube channel as well as the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show after every single Jets game. And I occasionally jump in the play-by-play booth at Canada Life to provide colour analysis during Manitoba Moose games.
