Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Feb 28, 2026

Note: The Jets looked like they were going to pick up their second straight win of the post-Olympic break last night in Anaheim but they were forced to score a late goal to send it to extra time where they lost the game with a shade under 13 seconds left on the clock. They lost Vlad Namestnikov in the 2nd period after he collided with a sliding Adam Lowry and then Mark Scheifele appeared to go knee on knee with a Ducks defender during OT. The team will practice today in southern Cali before boarding a plane to head to San Jose. Check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose got goalie Domenic DiVincentiis back on Friday although the likely starter when they take on the Admirals in Milwaukee this evening is Thomas Milic. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note III: Sandwiched by Jets games on Friday and Sunday, this morning’s edition of The IC Hockey Show will look back at Friday night v. ANA, preview Sunday v. SJS and delve deep into next Friday’s NHL Trade Deadline.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets salvage a point in a 5-4 OT loss to the Anaheim Ducks. While gaining any points is important losing that extra one hurts.
