Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Feb 26, 2026

Note: When Jets goalie Eric Comrie gave up goals early in the 1st and 2nd periods it looked like it might be a long evening against a bottom of the NHL team from the Canucks. Eventually, the visitors got rolling on their way to a 3-2 OT win. Winnipeg will travel to Anaheim today as they get set to welcome back Connor Hellebuyck and play the second game of this schedule. Today, is a tracel dj

Note II: Earlier in the evening on Wednesday the AHL club of Manitoba actually kicked off the pro hockey festivities as they took on the top team in the entire league over in Grand Rapids. We saw that Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic was right into the game early but then his teammates, who were incredibly shorthanded, stepped up to win it shorthanded as Phil Di Giuseppe got a beauty OT game-winner .

Note III: Fresh off being named the WHL Player of the Week, Oakbank product and Jets prospect Owen Martin (2025 3rd) scored his 20th goal of the season on Wednesday for Spokane.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Perfetti nabs overtime winner, Jets beat Canucks 3-2. He even cracked a smile.

Winnipeg Free Press: Reunited top line powers Jets past Canucks in 3-2 OT win. Reunited and it feel so good.

Winnipeg Free Press: Hellebuyck to be first hockey player to receive Presidential Medal of Freedom. (Paywall). Pretty significant milestone.

Global News: Perfetti’s first career OT goal lifts Winnipeg Jets past Vancouver 3-2. Hard to believe that was his first.

The Province: Trade buzz still trumps 3-2 OT loss to the Jets. The game was almost secondary for some folks in the market.
