Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Feb 25, 2026

Note: The Jets will play a game today. For the first time in three weeks it is a game day. There was a ton of news from practice on Tuesday as we learned that both Nino Niederreiter and Neal Pionk are both week-to-week which was somewhat unexpected. The team also announced they had recalled Kale Clague up from the AHL. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 1:30 PM CST so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 9 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Vancouver, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 11:40 PM CST.

Note III: The Moose will also play a game tonight as they kick off three games on the road starting with the top of the AHL Griffins in Grand Rapids. There was quite a bit doing with Manitoba which we delved into in yesterday’s Practice Report including the fact that they have a paucity of defencmen with three up with the big club and Tyrel Bauer suspended for two games. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Jets news:

ESPN: Connor Hellebuyck to receive Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Jets star was front and center for much of the festivities.

Winnipeg Sun: Two more down, Jets hit road wobbled by injuries. The tall, seemingly impossible task of climbing back into the playoff race is all the more difficult without Josh Morrissey and somewhat shockingly that’s not even who the title is referencing which just goes to show you the current state of the health of this Jets team.

Winnipeg Sun: Hockey, not Trump, inspired decision for Jets’ Kyle Connor He is deft on the ice and he was off of it as well as he stickhandled around the sensitive subject.

Winnipeg Free Press: Connor in the house. (Paywall). The two Connors took different journeys following the gold medal win which Wieber wrote about in his latest column.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jonathan Toews weighs in on NHL trade deadline: ‘I wouldn’t consider going anywhere’. (Paywall). Murat with the big scoop which removes the Winnipegger from speculation for the foreseeable future.

Donnie and Dhali: Jamie Thomas on the Winnipeg Jets season, Scheifele’s Olympic snub and more. Jets Analyst Jamie Thomas joined the guys and talked about the Jets struggles this season ahead of the game against the Canucks.
