Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Apr 7, 2026

Note: The Jets needed a win last night in their quick one-game homestand as they welcomed the Kraken to town and we learned earlier in the day that they’d be doing it without Morgan Barron who has been listed as week-to-week after suffering a lower-body injury on Saturday. While the game started off slowly the home team found the power in their power play (helped by fact that the visitors PK isn’t very good) as they rolled to a 6-2 victory powered by Mark Scheifele‘s three assists which helped him hit 900 points in his career. The team will hold an optional noon practice before they take off for St. Louis. Check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose have one of their biggest games of the season this evening as their six-game homestand continues with a two-game set against the Admirals. Why is it so important? Because Milwaukee sits just three points back of Manitoba for 4th spot in the Central. The higher seed will have the play-in series played in their home arena. They dod get a boost as Parker Ford was returned by the parent club last night. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT.

Note III: Missed this but Jets prospect Owen Martin (2025 3rd) had his season come to an end on Sunday as his Chiefs fell to the Cougars. He did have two goals in the game (the only goals his club scored in the loss) finishing with five goals in six playoff games. Might he join the Moose? We shall have to wait and see although we are expecting Kieron Walton (2024 4th) to join the AHL club of Manitoba shortly.

TSN: What has changed in Winnipeg since the Olympic break? The Jets got a critical win, and are 12-5-4 since the Olympic break. Their future depends on their own results and getting some help along the way, so what has gone right in Winnipeg, and what are the actual chances the Jets get to the postseason?
