Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Apr 13, 2026

Note: The Jets used Sunday as a travel day although the team did make some news with the recall of Brayden Yager and Nikita Chibrikov up to the big club. Might we see an NHL debut for Yager? Stay tuned for morning skate for Winnipeg which gets underway at 12:30 PM CT and then check back for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 9 PM CT.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Vegas, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 11:40 PM CT.

Note III: The Moose started off strong as Colby Barlow, who had a very good game, opened the scoring with a nifty backhand early in the game. Manitoba continued to take leads but Texas kept striking back which ultimately saw regulation end 3-3 before heading to OT. The home team controlled extra time and then won in thrilling fashion in the regular season home finale as Samuel Fagemo, who had to pick up his stick in the Stars end, before finishing off the tic-tac-toe play. Got the over 5500 here in Winnipeg to their feet as the Moose won 4-3. Of course extra time meant that Manitoba trails Texas by two points (with game in hand) heading into the final week of the regular season. They will practice today so check back for the Practice Report.

Note IV: Yesterday in the OHL a pair of Jets prospects were in action. Kevin He (2024 4th) had 1G 1A for his Flint club but they find themselves down 0-2 to Windsor (after sweeping their first round series). On the winning side of the ledger, Edison Engle (2025 6th) had an assist for Brantford who, despite outshooting North Bay 58-26, needed double OT to win and remain undefeated (7-0) in the playoffs.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Must-win territory for the Jets heading into Sin City. I think we are past “must-win” or “can’t lose” given the chances of achieving a playoff spot are 0.5%.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ Vilardi honoured by team nomination for humanitarian award. (Paywall). Nice to be recognized by your peers.
