Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Teetering Jets now enter the land of giants. It ain’t over till its over but with just a 0.6% chance of making the playoffs (according to sportsclubstats) it certainly would be monumental for Winnipeg to get to the post season. They would likely have to run the table and heading into ‘death valley’ aka California that will not be easy to accomplish.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets learning, developing, but still not winning. It is never easy for fans to be patient about development and it looks like the third season back in Winnipeg will be another one in which this team was unable to achieve that ultimate goal of the post season.
Winnipeg Free Press: Notebook. Looking at Pavelec’s continued absence, mental lessons and one goal games.
Winnipeg Free Press: Pavelec still on the mend. Looks like it will continue to be Al Montoya’s net for a bit longer as Pavelec continues to get healthier.
Winnipeg Sun: Are Winnipeg Jets chasing the sun or a playoff spot? While the playoffs seem very far away and highly improbable with a difficult path through California, Paul’s column focuses on what this team has learned and whether we will see a different team than we have in the past down the stretch.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets can’t use youth as an excuse, veterans say. The Jets have enough veteran presence on this club that this wouldn’t be an acceptable excuse. Of course the players aren’t suggesting that their youth is the issue so the point is moot.
Winnipeg Sun: Maurice left picking Jets’ chins off floor. When you are knocked down but not out, there is little choice but to get back up again to continue the fight. This team is not mathematically eliminated so they may as well continue to push forward.
CTV News: Jets share favourite recipes in new cookbook. Learn to cook the way the Jets families do and support the True North Foundation at the same time.
Illegal Curve: Coach Maurice scrum (audio). Picking his team back up after a tough loss. As down in the dumps as he has seen this team? Part of sales pitch that they still have a chance? Where did game go wrong? Where did they lose the flow of the game? Can you learn more from a loss like that? How much is mental? Bogosian update. Pavelec update. James Wright status. Injury update. Any change of feeling on the disputed goal?
Stars news:
Dallas Morning News: Nearly gone earlier in year, Whitney and Fiddler happy to help Stars’ playoff push. Both players have plenty of motivation to help get the Stars back into the playoff picture.
Dallas Morning News: Will Stars respond vs. Jets after 7-2 drubbing last week? You always wonder how a team files away a bad loss in the memory banks to be used at a later date. Well there wasn’t a lot of time between the two games so it will be interesting to see how Dallas plays in this one.
IceCaps news:
The Telegram: IceCaps continue to rise to the challenge. One of those most difficult challenges for a farm team is maintaining a consistent level of play when you are continuously losing your best players to the parent club. Somehow, coach McCambridge is getting the most out of his players as they continue to win game after game. They have won 13 of 14 games which is simply remarkable.
