Note: Due to last night’s Jets/Avalanche game, NHL Mid-Week goes tonight on TSN 1290 Winnipeg from 6 pm to 8 pm discussing all the latest Winnipeg Jets and NHL news from across the league.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Captain Ladd delivers. When he scored his 2nd goal of the game I asked Remis if we were finally going to see the first hat trick for the Jets since they moved from Atlanta. There just seemed to be a feel in that 3rd period that he was going to score three and he certainly came close a number of times. While he didn’t get the hat trick his play propelled his team to an all important two points.
Winnipeg Free Press: Low on fuel, but still flying. The Jets are finally acknowledging out loud what fans have been saying for awhile and that is that this team has to be pretty much perfect to get into the post-season down the stretch.
Winnipeg Free Press: Pavelec issue tough to figure. Gary asks some questions about Ondrej Pavelec and the goaltending of the Winnipeg Jets specifically: 1) Is it Pavelec, the team or a combo, 2) Can Pavelec be better, 3) What about Al?, 4) Free Agency and 5) Standing pat.
Winnipeg Sun: Wheeler works OT. It was clear post-game that while the media may have been stressing about his lack of goals lately (despite putting up a bunch of assists) he wasn’t concerned about it. He shared these sentiments “A big deal is made out of who is putting the puck in the net. For me it doesn’t matter who is scoring……if it’s Tango scoring, if it’s Laddy scoring, if it’s me scoring, I don’t care. I just want that thing to go in the net”. Well last night he got the winner.
Winnipeg Sun: Postma delivers after getting late call to join lineup. It was funny post-game hearing from Postma who said that in all his years of playing hockey getting the call to play that late has never happened to him before. While there was still some rust in his first game back since a February 8th game against the Blues he finished with over 15 minutes on the ice and a couple of assists.
Winnipeg Sun: Jetstream Blog. Ken empties his Notebook of all this post-game thoughts following a huge 5-4 OT win for the Jets.
Winnipeg Sun: Dream is shaky but still alive. At this point in the season you take any points you can secure so the Jets will throw those two in the bank and start to focus on Carolina. Paul also covers coach Maurice’s vision for the team, more chat about the end of game festivities between Jets/Blues and the tussle between Peluso and Bordeleau.
TSN: Jets outlast Avs in yet another overtime battle. Think these teams like to play close games? All five contests have been decided by one goal and four games have gone to OT. Dennis breaks down the contest from his spot high above the ice surface at MTS Centre.
Jets 5 Avalanche 4 in OT:
