Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Hockey gods smiling on JetsThe Jets are 7-2-1 in their last ten games but yet are still finding it tough to truly make a dent in the standings.  The Stars, Jets and Canucks are all tied with 66 points with the Coyotes (65) and Predators (62) also in the mix for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.  The Wild are in 7th with 73 points which makes them likely too tough to be caught.  However the Jets players speak with a confidence about making a serious run at the post-season so you can expect a wild push for the playoffs.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Ready for anything.   With the Jets in so tight with so much hockey left to play it is going to be an interesting couple of days as we lead up to the trade deadline on Wednesday.  Do you think the Jets make a move?  Will they deal a UFA?  What would you like to see happen?

Winnipeg Sun:  NHL vagabonds Pardy, Ellerby have found home on Jets’ blue-lineBoring is probably not a problem for coach Maurice when he thinks of his third defensive pairing.  Steady and mistake free is likely all he would want from these two.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets need to tighten up for playoff pushThere is no question this team can continue to improve as it seems coach Maurice indicates in every presser.  That isn’t to say he isn’t happy with what the team has accomplished but simply that they can continue to get better.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice scrum.  Injury update on Wright, Setoguchi & Enstrom (being assessed/flu/Maintenance).  All the banged up Jets yesterday.  On a good roll but still raising the bar.  The Ellerby/Pardy tandem.  On Jets penalty troubles.  Thoughts on his line changes (“gonna see some movement on our left wing”)

IceCaps news:

Labradorian:  Hutchinson gives IceCaps, fans a reason to smileWith goalie Eddie Pasquale having season ending hip surgery today the IceCaps needed someone to step up and Michael Hutchinson has done exactly that since the #1 went down.

WHL news:

The Prince George Citizen:  Cougars sold to investors, sources say.  In the article (which we got via Patrick Williams, NHL.com) it says that Winnipeg could be a possible destination.  Bears watching.  Update:  Via Jim Toth “Just got word from #TNSE regarding this article of specualtive move of #WHL franchise to WPG. is “100% False again”
