Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets lead NHL with nine players with 10 goals or more. Balanced scoring certainly has helped this team achieve their current level of success.
Winnipeg Free Press: NHL taking notice of Maurice. Hard to miss. Many expected the “new coach bump” to have ended awhile ago yet somehow coach Maurice has maintained it.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets face off against a team on their own hot streak in Carolina. Two very hot teams will do battle tonight with a critical two points on the line.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets try to continue roll vs. Canes. This is certainly not coach Maurice’s first time back in Carolina but you can bet he wants to leave with another two points in his pocket when he assumes his position behind the visitors bench.
Winnipeg Sun: Jetstream Blog. Ken is down in Carolina and looks back at the 2-1 win over Montreal as well as brings you up to date with some notes from today in Raleigh.
News and Observer: Paul Maurice comes back to Raleigh as Winnipeg coach. Always interesting to read the perspective of a coach’s former team.
Sportsnet: Hockey Central Trade Tracker – Evander Kane (video). The Hockey Central panel discusses whether the talented winger could be moved. Personally I don’t see it happening. This segment should probably be called Trade Speculation not Tracker.
TSN: Habs Gallagher brought non-calls upon himself. A late addition to the papers yesterday. Former NHL ref turned TSN analyst Kerry Fraser adds his two cents to whether or not the lack of penalties on the play was appropriate or not.
CBC: Jets reward good play with fighter helmet (video). How many Goose and Maverick jokes are going to be made about this new Jets tradition? Mark Stuart explains how this came about.
Illegal Curve: Coach Maurice from PNC Arena. Being back at PNC Arena. Chance to say hello to old friends. How gratifying has the surge been? What is the biggest thing he has brought to this franchise? What about this group gives him confidence surge will continue? Teaching aspects to the younger players. Players not on the ice (Ladd, Wheeler, Setoguchi, Enstrom) any concerns? While this is work in progress has to be happy with results. What does he expect from Carolina? Little different being in Winnipeg? More on MTS Centre. Listening to what players say on the bench. Finding balanced scoring.
Illegal Curve: Kane put on IR. Check out the chronology of events that saw the young sniper moved to the IR yesterday.
Hurricanes news:
News and Observer: Canes’ Ward healthy, says he’s ‘ready to rock and roll’. Hard to take the place of the goalie who just received first place as NHL Player of the Month.
IceCaps news:
The Telegram: IceCaps aim to bring road success home. They have an opportunity to make some history tonight back at the Mile One Center as they attempt to win their seventh straight game.
