Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jetstream Blog. Ken is down in Carolina and looks back at the 2-1 win as well as brings you up to date with some notes from today in Raleigh.
TSN: Habs Gallagher brought non-calls upon himself. Former NHL ref turned TSN analyst Kerry Fraser adds his two cents to whether or not the lack of penalties on the play was appropriate or not.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets flying higher and higher. In the first ten games under new coach Paul Maurice the team has eight wins and just two losses. The Montreal media was asking about the standard ‘new coach’ bump however it would appear that the pulse this team is showing is both strong and quite real.
Winnipeg Free Press: Hot new audition from Montoya. Achieving his 10th win meant he eclipsed his previous season high win total with plenty of time to still build on his record.
Winnipeg Sun: Frolik comes through big. While GM Cheveldayoff hasn’t made many moves his best one to date was clearly the trade which brought the Czech to Winnipeg. He has been excellent in all aspects of his game this season and once again showed some flash scoring the game winner.
Winnipeg Sun: Continuing playoff climb with 2-1 victory over Canadiens. While many are cautious in using the ‘P’ word the Jets continue to roll on towards a playoff position. Yesterday’s win put them in a three way tie with Dallas and Nashville for 10th and just four back of 8th place Vancouver.
Winnipeg Sun: Montoya sharp again as Jets continue torrid pace. Goalie controversy time? Montoya has solid numbers and should probably see more time on ice.
TSN: Jets within four points of the final playoff spot. Dennis breaks down the game from his perch high atop the ice surface at the Bell Centre.
Montreal Gazette: Gallagher takes beating. No surprise there was a lot of talk in the room about this play. I thought it was a brilliant play by Montoya, Bogosian and Trouba to keep him in the zone as he tried to get out so the Habs could try to gain entry.
Jets 2 Canadiens 1:
Coach Paul Maurice post-game scrum. Importance of building confidence. Why did he choose to go with Al Montoya? Tough decision for Tuesday? Thoughts on his team’s defensive play. Talking about his team buying in. Is the 8-2 record ahead of the curve? What would he like the answer to be when describing the Jets style of play? Compete level of Mark Stuart. Success of Michael Frolik on 1st line.
