Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets still learning how to win close ones. One thing you see is the need for secondary scoring because the Jets aren’t exactly lighting up the lamp and having played in so many close games, the need for goals from the entire team becomes even more important.
Winnipeg Free Press: Bettman deserves kudos. While other cities have continued the hate fest for the commish, he was received rather warmly in Winnipeg the last time he was in the city. Many realized that without his stamp of approval there wouldn’t be a team in the Peg’. Where do you stand on him?
Winnipeg Free Press: Therapy Session. It was one of the more interesting scrums I’ve heard (link to audio below) this season. Olli discussed how he has a personal employee who has been with him since the Panthers days helping to ensure he is peak physical health.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets need to find an edge to consistently win one-goal games. Playing in close games isn’t a bad thing but the margin for error is so slim.
Winnipeg Sun: Kane to miss more time. When you hear coach Noel say he won’t be a player for the next few games you know it won’t be good for business.
CBC: 5 Things to watch as Jets meet Avalanche. Jeff looks back at the history between these two clubs, momentum builder … or killer, rocky in Denver, Roy-al outbursts and Manitoba Avs.
Illegal Curve: Coach Noel post-practice scrum. Status update of Evander Kane. Update on Bogosian (hasn’t skated for a week, a couple of weeks away). Postma news (has been skating but its light). Slater (longer than Postma, farther away). Taking a step forward. Setoguchi not on the ice (maintenance day). Power play discussion. Playing the game that needed to be played. Puck management. Expecting a faster game tomorrow? On Jokinen’s employee. Further discussion on players training.
Illegal Curve: Post-practice audio. Hear from Michael Frolik, Olli Jokinen, Bryan Little and Mark Stuart.
Avalanche news:
Denver Post: Matt Duchene hoping to break out of slump. Our motto may be ‘Friendly Manitoba’ but fans are sure hoping that the confines of the MTS Centre don’t allow Duchene to break out of his slump just yet.
Denver Post: Alex Tanguay nursing knee, hip injuries. Denver got some bad news on the health of the left winger.
IceCaps news:
The Telegram: IceCaps collect first series sweep at home this season. It took a bit longer than coach Keith McCambridge probably would have liked to finally get a sweep. Jets fans should take note that Eric O’Dell continues to tear it up on the farm adding three assists in the final home game in St. John’s until after Christmas. Zach Redmond also added a goal for the IceCaps who head out on the road for four games before taking an 11 day break.
NHL Mid-Week:
