Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  Before the Jets leave for New Jersey, stick to Illegal Curve as we will have audio following practice today.

Note II:  The Jets have re-assigned defenseman Julian Melchiori to the St. John’s IceCaps of the AHL. Likely that Jacob Trouba returns this week.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Leads lost, defeat ensues.  The goal that tied the game was simply phenomenal by the Wild and the play that turned it over was just a favourable Wild bounce.  Ed also looks at the power play woes and having less passengers aboard.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Stuart solid in first game back after time out to heal hip.  Solid night of effort from Mark Stuart as he gave the kind of effort that you have come to expect from him.  Ed also looks at the work of the third line, faceoff wins, some more numbers, a quote from the captain and an ouch fact on the combined losses to Chicago & Minnesota.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Come back — and fast.  Stuck on the outside looking in, for much of the 1st period the scribes up in the press box were trying to figure out which could sign a quick contract with the Wild to serve as an emergency backup.  Luckily for Minnesota they got Kuemper back for the 2nd period but because it was on an emergency basis he was unable to sit with his teammates on the bench.

Winnipeg Sun: Wild backup steals the show against Jets.  When it was determined that Backstrom would be playing some Jets fans were excited to be facing the Minnesota backup, but this tender’ is no ordinary backup.  The only advantage may have been some rust but he quickly shook that off early in the 1st period.

Winnipeg Sun:  Coming up short.  Ken assess the game.

TSN:  Loss to Wild overshadowed by good effort by the Jets.  Unfortunately for Winnipeg the only thing that matters is the single point they get in the standings instead of the clean two points they could have had.  Dennis breaks down what he saw from his spot above the ice surface.
