Globe and Mail: Flames say Saddledome will be ready for NHL preseason. Great news for the organization as well as the citizens of Calgary.

Globe and Mail: Michigan board approves new Red Wings arena in downtown Detroit despite city’s bankruptcy. As someone who spent many games at the Joe, it is a great old building but the team was in desperate need to update. (How much Little Caesars could I eat? Answer: A lot). However the question is being asked; does this over ride the economic desperation felt in the state?

CBC: Canucks to retire Pavel Bure’s No. 10. As much as I hated the Russian Rocket (since often torched the Jets 1.0) he was a pure joy to watch on the ice.
