Jets news:
Note: While many Jets fans were awaiting the release of the full NHL regular season schedule, the only news that came out was from what was purported to be a leaked copy of the Panthers schedule. If true, the Jets will be heading to Del Boca Vista Phase II on December 5th and Florida will be in Winnipeg later that month on the 20th. The full NHL schedule is expected to be released later today. Stick to @illegalcurve for the release. We will have a post on site shortly after the schedule comes out.
Winnipeg Free Press: Lowry aiming for spot on the Rock. You don’t often hear of prospects talking about aiming for a spot on the AHL affiliate but the self awareness that Lowry possesses will likely hold him in good stead. He realizes that the AHL can be an important development tool in a young players journey to NHL success. Article also touches on J.C. Lipon on draft day, home grown product Peter Stoykewych, Adam Lowry being mic’d up and Josh Morrissey blogging.
Winnipeg Free Press: Pint-sized Petan has big dreams. If you’ve had an opportunity to watch him this week you can tell this kid has skills. If he can add some size to his frame the Jets are going to have a steal.
Winnipeg Sun: Brendon Kichton has something to prove after getting snubbed by Islanders. Do the Jets have a diamond in the rough in this 7th round pick? He will be trying to prove the Islanders wrong for letting him slip away and if he is able to do so, the Jets will happily be the recipients of this unexpected bonus.
Winnipeg Sun: Jimmy Lodge building on solid foundation. Lots of fans are happy that the Jets were able to secure Lodge later than expected. Defininetly a player to watch in the future.
Winnipeg Sun: Winnipegger Stoykewych relishing opportunity at Jets’ development camp. Still seems unreal to think of young Winnipeg kids having an opportunity to put on a jersey for their home town team. Article also covers Adam Lowry being mic’d up and the prospects pizza party the other night.
M.GoBlue.com: The Copp blog – First Development Camp. So far he has blogged about the first three days of camp. Always interesting to read a young prospects thoughts on Camp.
NHL news:
Globe and Mail: Bobby Ryan doesn’t want to fill Alfredsson’s role with Senators. Probably a good tact to take considering the icon that Alfredsson is (or was) in our nation’s capital.
Columbus Dispatch: Horton has surgery. Jackets fans are going to have to show a similar patience that Jets fans had last season as they watched Zach Bogosian recover from his surgery.
