Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Burmistrov glad to be back on ice.  Expect to see a determined Alexander Burmistrov tonight as he attempts to prove to his coach and his teammates that he has what it takes to be in this lineup.  Of course his play on the 4th line should be interesting as coach Noel hasn’t been using that line very much during the games.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Noel pre-game presser.  What would he like to see from Burmistrov.  Kane, Wheeler and Ladd didn’t take part in practice – Maintenance?  How closely is he watching the standings?  Any time frame for Enstrom?  Any confusion over the penalties?  What does he need to see from Kulda to get into lineup?  Looking at this week for the Jets in the standings.  Managing lineup during a shortened season.  Impact of Ron Hainsey.  Would he make case to Chevy for keeping Hainsey.  Using Boston as a measuring stick?  Getting the 4th line more minutes.  Determining shootout shooters.  

Winnipeg Free Press:  Hainsey, Antropov: Too good to trade?  Could you ever imagine reading that headline prior to the season starting?

Winnipeg Sun:  Trade deadline complicated for Jets.  The next two weeks until the April 3rd trade deadline will be very interesting for Chevy & company.  If the Jets remain in contention it will be extremely difficult to trade away any of the important pieces of the puzzle.  Of course, as can be seen in the standings, staying above the line won’t be easy either.  It is going to be quite the roller coaster so make sure you stay buckled in.

Winnipeg Sun:  Time to free Alex Burmistrov.  Similar to the messages sent to Wellwood and Thorburn, Burmistrov has probably figured out what he needs to do differently after a number of games up with the media in the press box.  The good news for him is he is likely to see some action against his favorite target, 6′ 9″ Zdeno Chara.

Globe and Mail:  Jets effect heats up Winnipeg’s commercial real estate market.  Take a look at the downtown with all the construction that is going on and it isn’t hard to see the accuracy of this article.

NHL.com:  Super 16.  Missed this yesterday but the Jets cracked the top 16 according to NHL.com’s power rankings.

Jets prospect news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Chevy’s dander up over baseless Scheifele chatter.  It is still way too soon to give up on Scheifele.  One would suspect that Cheveldayoff doesn’t appreciate the implication, considering Mark Scheifele was a selection made by his group.

Jets opposition (Bruins) news:

Boston Herald:  Krejci can’t dodge shot, does dodge bullet.  In case Krejci is unable to go tonight, the B’s have called up talented rookie center Ryan Spooner.

Boston Globe:  Spooner recalled on emergency basis.  Bruins beat writer Fluto Shinzawa gives you a look at some possible line combinations for Boston tonight.

NHL news:

Globe and Mail:  GMs to look into video reviews, hybrid icings at shortened annual meeting.  No sun and no golf this year, so hopefully the GMs can take care of business when they meet in Toronto.

Orange County Register:  Ducks’ Perry signs eight-year, $69 million contract extension.  The Ducks solidified their roster (at least two of their best players for the next eight years) and took all the wind out of the potential trade speculation.  Of course with over 21 million tied up between Perry, Getzlaf and Ryan the Ducks are going to have some fun getting below the cap next season.  But clearly GM Bob Murray and owner Henry Samueli want to win and want to win right now.  Even with Perry out of the lineup tonight against the Sharks, as he served game three of his four game suspension, his Ducks won their 12th game in a row.

NHL.com:  Stamkos scores 200th NHL goal.  He has been unbelievably prolific in his relatively short time in the league.  Jets fans saw his skill when he ended the season against them last year scoring his 60th of the year.
