Jets news:
Illegal Curve: Statement from the Redmond family. The family of injured Jets defenceman Zach Redmond released a statement via the Jets today.
CBC: Judging the Jets — 100 games after their return to Winnipeg. Hardly seems like we have already experienced 100 Jets games since the return of NHL hockey to the Manitoba capital. What would you like to see, re-building on the fly or blowing up the core?
Winnipeg Free Press: Bad luck plagues Miettinen. He last just 17 seconds before he had to leave the game and following the Jets win, was labeled as ‘day to day’ by head coach Claude Noel. When further pressed about the injury coach Noel said it occurred in “an uncomfortable area”. Hopefully Miettinen is ok. Ed also talks about the review process, Peluso’s play and becoming road warriors.
Winnipeg Free Press: No longer dropping any road apples. While the Jets have improved a dismal road record from last season they still have a lot of room for improvement. They seem incapable of pressing following a goal and often give up a quality chance soon thereafter. It has been due to the stellar play of Ondrej Pavelec that they have been able to maintain these leads.
Winnipeg Sun: Miettinen & Byfuglien the latest in sick bay. To lose Enstrom was bad but it was offset by the return of Zach Bogosian. The Jets cannot afford to lose Dustin Byfuglien for any length of time. Good news according to Ed Tait, is that Buff was back on the ice for the optional skate.
Winnipeg Sun: When will Winnipeg Jets start winning at home? Now that the Jets are winning on the road and struggling at home the soul searching will begin. Kirk also looks at Peluso’s tilt, Miettinen’s injury, quick starts to game, Hainsey the workhorse, less missed shots, Jokinen’s scare and more.
Winnipeg Sun: Scammed Jets fan back in the game. Awesome to see the kindness of strangers. Really puts the Friendly in Friendly Manitoba.
Winnipeg Sun: Thoughts from the game. Ken Wiebe breaks down the Jets victory over the Devils.
TSN: Special teams help Jets in win over Devils. Successful penalty killing and scoring during the power play will wonders never cease. Even more importantly the Jets minimized the opportunities they gave the Devils.
Illegal Curve: Jets on a Deadline – Jets 4 Devils 2. Game recaps, video highlights and the NHL.com 3 Stars of the night.
Illegal Curve: Proposed Realignment puts Winnipeg Jets in Conference 3. On CBC”s Satellite Hotstove, Elliotte Friedman revealed the newest version of this year’s proposed realignment.
Jets affiliate and prospect news:
Toronto Star: Marlies beat IceCaps. It was a second period to forget for St. John’s. They gave up five goals to Toronto and that was the difference in the game.
Tri-City Americans: Tri-City routs Edmonton. The Jets fourth round pick Zachary Yuen had a goal and an assist as he helped his team destroy the Oil Kings on Saturday. Next up are the Portland Winterhawks on Tuesday, the 26th.
NHL news:
Chicago Sun-Times: Corey Crawford’s shutout extends Blackhawks’ NHL record to 18. I caught the end of the game and the Hawks were able to hold on despite a full course press by the Bluejackets.
Boston Herald: Bruins off to best start in 36 years. Jets fans can thank Boston after the B’s swept the two Florida teams over the weekend.
Pittsburgh Tribune: Malkin has short-term memory loss. It was a horrible crash into the boards and Penguins fan have to hope he will make a full recovery.
NHL.com: No Supplemental Discipline for Pacioretty. The Jets next opponents (NYR) will not be happy that there was no further disciplinary action.
