Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Home Insecurity? Is the MTS Centre losing its magic? Has the shine worn off of the Jets?
Winnipeg Sun: Miettinen back on ice with Jets. The surprise of Saturday’s skate at the IcePlex was seeing Miettinen wearing a regular practice jersey and skating with the rest of the Jets team. While he still needs a few practices under his belt before he is game ready, it appears he thinks that he will be back on the ice during the upcoming Jets road trip.
Winnipeg Sun: Keep missing target. You cannot score a goal if you miss the net and the Jets have missed too many opportunities to get the puck on net. Who knows what sort of scoring chances they could generate if they just got the puck at the opposition net minder.
Winnipeg Sun: Blue-lines will have to soldier on without Enstrom. Coach Noel said Tobias would be having an MRI on the injury yesterday so we should have a better idea as to the length of time he will be out at some point today.
Illegal Curve: Coach Noel audio from the IcePlex. Enstrom shoulder issue. Requires an MRI. Who will he pair with Buff? Is his team doing the right things? What are some things his team needs to do better? Getting more power play opportunities. Is Miettinen ready? Handling a ‘heavy’ team. Missing too many shots? Teams playing more defensively.
Illegal Curve: Player audio from the IcePlex. Dustin Byfuglien, Zach Bogosian, Chris Thorburn and Antti Miettinen.
Jets affiliate and prospect news:
The Union Leader: IceCaps come back to top Monarchs. St. John’s scored four unanswered goals to beat Manchester and end a five game losing streak.
Barrie Colts official site: Colts blank Steelheads 3-0. Jets prospect Mark Scheifele picked up two assists in the win, including his 200th OHL point in his 148th game.
Jets opposition (Boston Bruins) news:
Boston Herald: B’s seek finishing flourish. The Bruins are 8-2-2 on the season and will be looking for blood after a tough loss to the Sabres on Friday.
Boston Herald: Milan Lucic out for personal issue. Fans were reporting that Lucic was heading back out of town after the Bruins arrived Saturday afternoon. Hopefully all is well for his family.
Video – Goal of the Night:
The Oilers set a franchise record for shots with 56 (amazing considering the firepower they possessed on those early to mid to late 80s teams) and took something like 85 shots at the net. This Hemsky goal was a beauty. Enjoy.
