Note: During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives. If you’d like to help the Illegal Curve team as we raise money ($5,222.00 as of this AM, an increase of over $450 from yesterday) and awareness you are welcome to do so; Dave, Ezra, Drew, #5 Mark Stuart and #44 Zach Bogosian.

Last night was the Movember Winnipeg Gala Party at The Pyramid.  Great times were had by everyone in attendance and even more importantly they continue to raise money and awareness.

Jets & Affiliate news:

CBC:  Elliotte Friedman’s 30 Thoughts.  Always a good read from Friedman.  #3 and #18 are Jets related and 18 will have Jets fans breathing a sigh of relief.

Province of Manitoba:  Province launches After School Network with Jets True North Foundation as flagship partner.  A bit of positive news during all the lockout nonsense.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Reprimand ‘fabrication’ denied by Jets, NHL.   Not surprisingly both the Jets and NHL have denied the veracity of the story and once again the reporter is standing by his story.  Here is the Jets official response:

Mark Chipman, Chairman and Governor of the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club, issued the following statement on behalf of True North Sports & Entertainment Limited regarding the report from Comcast Sportsnet New England:

“I was disappointed to learn today of a report which claimed an exchange took place between an Alternate Governor of the Winnipeg Jets and Jeremy Jacobs of the Boston Bruins at a recent NHL Board of Governors meeting. I was present throughout all BOG proceedings and can categorically state that no such exchange between Mr. Jacobs and either one of our Alternate Governors – Patrick Phillips or Kevin Cheveldayoff – ever took place. Any suggestion otherwise is completely false.”

Winnipeg Sun:  Forbes pegs Jets value at $200 million. While the actual numbers can be debated, it is clear that some teams can continue to succeed in their market while others will continue to struggle.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Ladd welcomes addition of mediators to bargainingSomething different is better than nothing at this point but nobody seems to be holding their breath that this method will lead to a breakthrough.

TSN:  Pasquale solid in IceCaps’ win over PhantomsTwo wins in a row for St. John’s!!  I wonder if they can stretch this streak to 3 games.   Next game is Friday night in Albany.

Reporter Herald:  Colorado Eagles lose late againWhen you lose one of the best defenceman in the ECHL, you can expect to be behind the 8 ball and the Steelheads scored a 4-3 victory.

Reporter Herald:  Colorado Eagles forward Kyle Ostrow has speed to burn.   Another one of those ECHL young guns to be aware of.

CBA news:

TSN:  NHL, NHLPA make no progress after talks with mediators.  Just terrific.

The Detroit Free Press:  NHL deal might be near, but not lastingThe biggest mistake either side can make it not to ensure that this CBA is long lasting.  Fans do not want to have to deal with renegotiation anytime soon.

Globe and Mail:  NHL lockout ignores the golden gooseThis time around things might be vastly different when and if the game returns this season.

NHL news:

CBC:  Wild goalie Josh Harding diagnosed with multiple sclerosisA real shame whenever you hear someone is diagnosed with something of this nature but hopefully for the Regina native he will be able to persevere.

Arizona Republic:  Making the winning choiceFolks in Glendale are hoping short term pain can lead to long term gain.
