Note: The Jets are in Washington where they will kick off the first of five games on the road. Prospect Elias Salomonsson is expected to make his NHL debut with Neal Pionk on the shelf day-to-day. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 10 AM CST so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Washington, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.

Note III: The Moose win streak finally came to an end in front of almost 7000 screaming kids although I suspect they were happy as they got to see 6767 as the announced crowd. It was a disjointed game which saw the zebras call a bunch of penalties on the home team in the opening frame. Manitoba got goals from Parker Ford (see here) and Kale Clague (see here) but ultimately lost the game 5-2. They won’t have to wait long for the re-match as the two teams are back in action this evening here in Winnipeg. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Feast, famine: Jets’ Nyquist starving for first goal with new team. While folks knew the Jets weren’t getting the 75 point Nyquist from two seasons back I suspect nobody saw him without a goal in 16 games.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ record not the whole story: Arniel. Just like we cautioned when the Jets were 9-3-0 but the underlying metrics (aside from the goaltending) wasn’t particularly promising, similarly despite not winning much of late the last stretch has see their analytics improve.

Winnipeg Sun: Mom and dad challenged to make Salomonsson’s Winnipeg Jets debut. Getting from Skellefteå to Washington on short notice can’t be too easy. Then again your son only gets one NHL debut.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets looking to flip script as puck drops on season-defining road games. (Paywall). They lost their road warrior status when they went west but now that they are back out east looking to reclaim it.

Sportsnet: Jets quarter-mark report: Recent skid spoils hot start. And they have yet to win in the post-Connor Hellebuyck era.
