Note: The Jets will host the Blue Jackets this evening to kick off three games at home. Columbus won at home although the game went to a shootout so that’s a positive for the host club. Winnipeg got a big boost yesterday with the news that Morgan Barron and Cole Kopeke were activated off IR. Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 10:30 AM CST so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Columbus, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 9:40 PM CST.
Note III: The Moose got a HUGE boost on Monday with the loaning of Nikita Chibrikov, Brad Lambert and Parker Ford to the AHL club of Manitoba. Not sure I can ever recall the team getting a full line of impact players in one fell swoop during the season. It’s the deepest forward group I suspect they’ve ever had in Manitoba. They will practice today and tomorrow as they get set to kick off a homestand against the Wolves.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Samberg to make home debut as Jets face Blue Jackets. Suspect 54 will get a big cheer from the home crowd when he gets announced.
Winnipeg Free Press: Samberg’s hockey smarts a welcome addition to Jets blue line. (Paywall). We learned just how critical 54 is to the team’s success last season when he went down with injury. Healed up he continues to make big strides.

Winnipeg Free Press: Weak link or menace? Lowry finding his game after lengthy absence to start season. (Paywall). It isn’t easy missing that much summer training and the first month of the regular season. You’re clearly starting behind all the other guys who started racing over a month prior.
Global News: Western road trip went south for Jets. After building a solid 9-3-0 record without three key pieces folks reasonably assumed this team would be able not just keep things on track but thrive. Instead they went 2-4-0 and squandered the opportunity to put some ground between them and the non-playoff teams.
