Note: The Jets and Penguins had an afternoon contest to close out the homestand in Winnipeg which saw the home team start quickly (just 15 seconds in), followed by Brad Lambert getting his first NHL goal and then rolling to a 5-2 win. They are off today. They are scheduled to hit the ice tomorrow for a practice before they leave for six games on the road starting on the west coast.

Note II: The Moose are back in action today after a day of practice on Saturday. They will take on a Stars team which have gotten off to a bad start. Puck drop at 2 PM.

Note III: On the day Mark Scheifele was named Second Star of the Month for the first time in his career, his two points in the Jets win later that day put him into top spot in the NHL for points with 20 (9G 11A). Not too shabby.

Note IV: Prospect watch focused on Kieron Walton (2024 6th) as he scored two more goals yesterday in a Sudbury loss to continue on his torrid pace. The only other prospect to find the back of the net was Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) who had an empty netter to help seal the deal for Saginaw.

Note V: You have an opportunity to own some IC merch as we’ve opened up the Merch store with new offers including a limited edition NewEra 39Thirty hat. Check it all out here.

Note VI: While Illegal Curve will not be switching to Illegal Pitch anytime soon, I have to acknowledge how fantastic Game 7 of the World Series was last night in Toronto. While the Blue Jays were not able to hold on for the win, it was an incredible series which really seemed to bring folks together from coast to coach to coast. Congrats to the Jays, congrats to the Dodgers and congrats to all the fans north and south of the border who got to enjoy some tremendous baseball.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets cool off high-flying Penguins. (Paywall). Mike gives you his thoughts on the game.

NHL.com: Connor’s 2 goals help Jets end Penguins point streak at 8. The Jets made the Pens look rather pedantic and it was hard to believe that was a top team in the league.

Global News: Comrie makes 28 saves, Jets down Penguins 5-2. The backup netminder continues to show off his skillset.

Pittsburgh Tribune: Penguins, Arturs Silovs fall to Jets; point streak stopped at eight games. Seth covers the Pens and provides insight on the game as someone who covers the Jets opponent.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets free agent priorities: From Lowry to Schenn, who should stay and who should go. (Paywall). As I predicted last week my guess is before the team leaves for the west coast road trip, the team will have agreed to terms with their captain. Murat gives you his assessment of the lay of the land when it comes to UFAs.
