Note: The Jets ended their three games in four days with a disappointing loss to a really good Mammoth team who found the back of the net in the 3rd period to take it 3-2. Head coach Scott Arniel was clearly not pleased with the way his team played in the final 40 minutes of the game. Today, they will travel to St. Paul where they will face the Wild on the road on Tuesday night.
Note II: Listening back to Jets coach Scott Arniel’s comments from prior to puck drop on Sunday had me wondering if the discussion with management and Adam Lowry are about a potential AHL conditioning assignment with the Moose. Additionally, I also wonder if this is the week that an extension gets announced. Stay tuned.
Note III: The Moose used Sunday as a travel day as they left Chicago for Tucson for the first time since the 2016-17 season. They will face the Roadrunners on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Note IV: It was a big day for a pair of Jets prospects in the OHL who also happen to be best friends. Kevin He (2024 4th) picked up his first hat trick of the season in a win for Niagara while it was an even bigger night for a bigger prospect as 6’6 Kieron Walton (2024 6th) had five points (2G 3A) for Sudbury.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Guenther has game-winner as Jets lose 3-2 to the Mammoth. It was a really nice pass and a nice goal but it never should have gotten to that point.
Winnipeg Free Press: ‘Self-inflicted’ loss: Uncharacteristic miscues leave Jets coach frustrated. (Paywall). My word for what we saw in periods two and three was disconnected hockey. They didn’t play like five-man units.

Winnipeg Free Press: Former Jet Schmidt having fun in Utah after Cup win with Florida. (Paywall). Not sure anyone is having more fun in the NHL than Nate Schmidt.
Global News: Mammoth ground Jets 3-2 for seventh straight win. The former Jets 1.0 turned Coyotes turned Mammoth (even though they left the history behind) are a very good hockey team with a lot of very good young talent. They are going to be formidable if they continue along this trajectory.
