Note: The Jets skated on Sunday (Practice Report here) as they prepared for their two-game road trip. We learned that the team had recalled defenceman Kale Clague although we heard from head coach Scott Arniel that Haydn Fleury while being listed as day-to-day could be a player still during this trip. No morning skate due to the early start time but the pre-game report will try to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 12 PM CDT.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and New York, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 2:40 PM CDT.
Note III: The Moose were not quite as fortunate in their re-match on Sunday as they were in the home opener. At 5-on-5 they matched the Rocket in goals with one but Manitoba gave up two shorthanded goals, a power play goal and an empty net goal. They did get two goals from recently loaned David Gustafsson (here & here) who scored for the first time in the AHL since April of 2022. Ultimately they lost 5-2. They are off today.
Note IV: A trio of Jets prospects were playing in the OHL yesterday and having an impact. Kevin He (2024 4th) had 1G 2A (see here) for Niagara as he came out on top in a battle with his best friend/fellow Winnipeg prospect Kieron Walton (2024 6th) who had 1G 1A (see here) for Sudbury. Also Edison Engle (2025 6th) got an assist on the game-winning goal for Brantford which means he’s up to 1G 9A for 10 points in 6 games which is good enough for 2nd spot in points among defencemen in the OHL.
