Note: The Jets skated on Friday as they looked to turn the page from their season opening loss to the Stars and switch their focus to tightening up their structure so they can be ready for this afternoon’s game against the Kings. No morning skate because of the early start time but stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 12:30 PM CDT.
Note II: This afternoon, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Los Angeles, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 3:10 PM CDT.
Note III: The Moose kicked off their season last night in Winnipeg with as strong as forward group as I can ever remember in the 11 seasons they have been back in the city and that’s without Brad Lambert, Nikita Chibrikov, Parker Ford and David Gustafsson (who cleared waivers but didn’t play last night). Less than three minutes into his first game as a pro Jets prospect Brayden Yager had his first goal as a pro (cleaner version here). While the offence was big a huge part of the win came from the effort of goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis who stopped 36 of 37. Check out the game recap here.
Note IV: Be sure to join us for two hours of Jets and Moose talk this morning at 9 AM CDT on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show. We will be joined by Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free press and Manitoba play-by-play voice Daniel Fink. Join us here.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Is there more room in the offensive tank for Jets forward Morgan Barron? That’s the question plenty of folks have been wondering. If the centres ahead of him do not produce then you can bet he will likely get a chance to show what he can do.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets know what to improve after dropping season opener. (Paywall). While there are certainly some new faces the majority of this group was together last season where they won a Presidents’ Trophy and that wasn’t by accident.
Winnipeg Free Press: Rad tunes and fashion decisions. (Paywall). A fun feature from the guys here about the dress code. They also cover quite a bit more.
The Athletic Winnipeg: How Jonathan Toews’ encouraging performance could come to define the Jets’ season. (Paywall). Excellent insight from Murat as per usual.
