Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note: The Jets hit the ice on Thursday for their 15th day of training camp which did not feature Jonathan Toews who remains day-to-day after tweaking something on Tuesday. We did learn that the three players (Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Samuel Fagemo and Kale Clague) the Jets had placed on waivers had cleared.

Note II: Today is the final gameday of the preseason as the Jets will skate this morning in Winnipeg before heading to Calgary for a game tonight against the Flames. Puck drop is at 8 PM CDT.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck clears the air on his early exit from practice. Jets head coach Scott Arniel was clearly holding onto the secret much to our chagrin but his netminder had no problem sharing the story.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets breathe easier as Toews listed day-to-day with lower-body injury. Folks were getting close to hitting the old panic button but turns out they are just being cautious. 

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets forward, goaltender on track as training camp winds down. (Paywall). It was interesting to hear the bench boss at some point during camp when asked if they already have the defensive element down which gives them latitude to focus on other areas, he indicated they still have to work on that area to ensure it is sound.

Global News: NHL’s Central Division remains tough through the season and playoffs. And it seems like a bunch of the teams not named Colorado, Dallas and Winnipeg got stronger this season which is going to make it even tougher.
