Note: The Jets fell to 0-1-1 after last night’s 3-2 regulation loss to the Oilers on Tuesday night in Winnipeg. It appeared that Colby Barlow got the first goal for the Jets but the NHL changed it saying he never got his stick on the Colin Miller shot but he’d get it back as the game wound down finding the back of the net with 1:01 left in the game. It was quite the prospect roundup on the ice for that goal.

Note II: The team is back at hockey for all centre today with group 1 skating at 10 AM and group 2 skating at 12 noon.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Toews impressive in hometown debut. (Paywall). He didn’t seem out of place which is impressive given he was over two years removed from his last NHL game and had dealt with some serious health consequences in the interim.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets training camp a fresh start for Heinola. (Paywall). This training camp sure seems like it’s his last chance for romance (in a Jets jersey) as if he hits the waiver wire it seems likely a team snags him.

Winnipeg Sun: Toews and the Jets come up short against the Oilers. Gordon gives you his thoughts from last night’s game.

Winnipeg Sun: No more junior hockey for Jets prospect Jacob Julien. Like Barlow and Yager, Julien is the third prospect who will be turning pro this season. After being on such a winning junior program it will be interesting to watch him transition to the pro game.

Jets video:

TSN: Toews had ‘a lot of fun’ in Jets’ debut. In his Jets’ preseason debut, Jonathan Toews had 18:36 worth of ice-time, while going 55% on faceoffs. TSN’s Dan Robertson and Kevin Sawyer have more on the greatly anticipated game, including how the former Chicago captain looked and felt on the ice.

TSN: Julien hoping to ride momentum from Memorial Cup win into Jets campAfter winning the Memorial Cup last year with the London Knights, Jacob Julien explains that he’s hoping to ride the momentum from that triumph into Jets camp this year, while head coach Scott Arniel shares what he’d like to see from Julien.
