Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note: The Jets were off on Friday following their road trip which concluded with a 4-3 OT win over the Oilers. While they were off we shared a fun feature on Kane O’Connor who brought his family from Australia in January to see five Jets and two Moose games. Check it out here. The team will hit the ice in Winnipeg for a practice at 11 AM CDT. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose playoff hopes took a big hit as they lost to the Canucks 4-2 and the team they are chasing (the Icehogs won) which puts them 11 points back with just 12 games remaining. They will have another shot at Abbotsford this evening at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is at 6 PM CDT and we will have full coverage.

Note III: The Jets returned home having reached the 100 point mark in 70 games (fastest they’ve ever done it). We’ll spend two hours chatting about the NHL and AHL clubs of Manitoba on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show this morning starting at 9 AM CDT.

Winnipeg Sun: Trap of complacency awaits Jets over last dozen games. Has this team learned from the mistakes of the past? Their record would seem to indicate that they have but the proof is in the pudding which means we won’t know till we see how things go in the playoffs.

Sportsnet: Cracks showing in Hellebuyck’s game as playoffs approach for Jets. Jacob wrote about the need to pace the presumptive Vezina winner to keep him fresh for playoffs. He also wrote about the goalie interference challenge, the powerless power play and the play of Cole Perfetti. 

Global News: Jets vs. Oilers could be a great Canadian playoff matchup. If so Josh Morrissey may have to go into witness relocation as fans in Edmonton are wanting him to be tarred and feathered for his perceived role in the injury suffered by Connor McDavid during the game on Thursday night.
