Note: The big question, which became even bigger after both Neal Pionk and Nikolaj Ehlers missed a second straight day of practice, is whether they will be good to go tonight in a big tilt with the Stars. We didn’t get any insight from head coach Scott Arniel who simply told us to be at morning skate to find out. While Winnipeg has an eight point lead on Dallas it is the visitors with two games in hand which makes a clean win tonight quite important in maintaining a solid hold on 1st spot in the Central. Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM CDT so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 7 PM CDT.
Note II: It is going to be a busy day for us as we want you to join us for a live Special Edition of Illegal Curve at Cityplace starting at 12 noon (or join us on our YouTube stream here) as we preview the game.
Note III: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Dallas, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 9:40 PM CDT.
Note IV: The Moose were hoping to get off to a good start on the road in Chicago last night. And they did opening the game with a 2-0 lead including a goal for Jets prospect Fabian Wagner which meant he had four goals in each of his last four games (including last night). Quite a milestone as the 2022 6th rounder is in his first season in the AHL. And he wasn’t done there as he absolutely ripped this shot bardown to bring the visitors within one. That was as close as they got as the Wolves held on for the 4-3 win. We did almost get the first Moose goalie fight since 2018 as Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis went after goalie Dustin Tokarski although the officials intervened.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Hellebuyck on pace to come oh-so-close to NHL record. The soon to be three-time Vezina winner was candid in his comments with us on Thursday.

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Like a look in the mirror’: Jets, Stars, bring playoff feel to Friday tilt. Two top goalies, plenty of depth scoring which adds up to some potentially exciting hockey. Dallas are missing some of their bigger names so that’s something to consider.
Winnipeg Free Press: Record within Hellebuyck’s reach. (Paywall). He’s only seven wins from setting the new franchise high for wins and 11 from setting the NHL record.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets-Stars showdown a battle for Central Division supremacy. (Paywall). While I think it’s important to caution that this is just game 67 on the schedule for Winnipeg and not make it anything more than that, it will be important for the Jets to get a clean two points to really solidify their hold on top spot in the Central.
