Note: While most of the NHL is back in business with teams returning to their respective cities for practice ahead of games this weekend a number of players remain in Boston for tonight’s showdown between Canada and the United States as they both vie for the 4 Nations championship title. For Jets fans it features Connor Hellebuyck and Kyle Connor vs Josh Morrissey. As well Canada features three Manitobans in Mark Stone, Travis Sanheim and Seth Jarvis. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.
Note II: The Jets hit the ice on Wednesday for an official practice which saw the return of captain Adam Lowry in a regular uniform after missing eight straight games. He looked ready to go and seems likely to return to the lineup in his city of birth on Saturday when his team takes on the Blues in St. Louis which would be the first game for him since January 20th. The news wasn’t as good for Morgan Barron who was delayed by weather out east in getting back to the city and is IR skating on his own. They hit the ice again today for another practice at 11 AM out at hockey for all centre. Check back for the Practice Report.
Note III: The Moose have dug themselves a big hole if they want to make the playoffs and their six-game road trip began in Laval against former head coach Pascal Vincent for the first time since 2021-22 when he left the organization to join Columbus in the NHL. Since becoming bench boss of the Rocket he has coached them to the best winning percentage in the entire AHL. It was his former team that got things started and they held the lead throughout the contest holding on for a big 5-4 victory with the game-winning goal coming from this beauty pass by Brad Lambert to Jaret Anderson-Dolan. They are scheduled to practice today in Laval.
Note IV: Jets prospect Brayden Yager (2023 1st) had two assists in a Lethbridge loss in his hometown of Saskatoon last night. While his points streak ended at seven games he’s got 21 points (8G 13A) in his last nine games. He’s got 23G 46A for 69 points in 43 games.
