Note: The Jets were able to conclude their four-game homestand with a 4-2 victory over the Habs as they improve to 22-9-1 on the season. They’ve even got a modest three game points streak going (2-0-1) with the win over Montreal. Connor Hellebuyck was a difference maker once again in the victory. Today the team, along with their mothers, will head to California for the Moms Trip which gets started in San Jose. The team is off today and will practice on Monday.

Note II: Just like last season when the Moose were mired in a long losing streak of 11 games (0-10-1) they are similarly stuck in one this year which didn’t get any better last night in Abbotsford as the road trip continued with another loss as they fell 3-0 to the Canucks. With the loss they have now lost seven straight games (0-6-0-1). One positive is that Jets 2021 1st rounder Chaz Lucius has now played five straight games for the Moose. After missing a month the Winnipeg prospect is getting games under his belt which is (captain obvious) massive for him this season.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: ‘No flu tonight’: Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck slams door on Patrik Laine in win over Habs. Not sure it’s ever a good idea to incentivize a two-time Vezina winner. Even when it’s done in a good natured manner. 37 seemed extra dialed in whenever 92 fired a shot on him. Paul gives you his thoughts on the game.

Winnipeg Free Press: Hellebuyck tames Laine as Jets roll past Habs. (Paywall). It was a funny storyline throughout the night but once again 37 shows he’s the best goalie on the planet night in and night out.

Sportsnet: ‘Generational goalie’: Jets’ Hellebuyck delivers another reminder of impact. I hadn’t realized Hellebuyck never heard the comments from Laine so I guess there wasn’t any bulletin board material after all other than a Hall of Fame (to be) goalie wanting to stop his former teammate who has a generational shot.

Sportsnet: Vilardi stars, Hellebuyck makes 26 saves as Jets hold off Canadiens. The special teams were working for Winnipeg on Saturday night.

Sportsnet: Self-destructive mistakes hurt Canadiens again. Read about the game from the perspective of a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

Montreal Gazette: Canadiens improve defensively, but still lose 4-2 at Winnipeg. Read about the game from the perspective of a writer that covers the Jets opponent Part Deux.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Ville Heinola or Logan Stanley Who’s the solution to Winnipeg Jets’ third-pair problems? (Paywall). Murat delves into the question that has Jets fans on both sides of the divide debating for who knows how long.
