Note: The Jets held a focused practice on Friday afternoon as they weren’t happy with how they played as a collective group with some of the defensive breakdowns throughout the game which led to the Vegas win in extra time. While Nikolaj Ehlers was buzzing around yesterday in a yellow, non-contact uniform it seems very unlikely he will return to the lineup before they hit the road for two games in California next week. For now we focus on the here and now so be sure to check back for the pre-game report for any updates. Morning skate gets underway at 9:30 AM and puck drop is at 6 PM CST.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Montreal, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.
Note III: The Moose are also in action tonight as they look to end their six game slide and get back on track against the Canucks in Abbotsford. The pre-game skate gets underway at 1:15 CST while puck drop is at 9 PM CST.
Note IV: Lots of prospect news from Friday night. Big night for Jets 2024 4th rounder Kevin He who was named 1st star picking up 1G 3A in a win for Niagara. His best friend and fellow Jets prospect being 2024 6th rounder Kieron Walton had a two point night with a nice primary assist and a OT GWG on the PP as he slides into 4th spot in OHL scoring. Jets 2023 5th rounder Jacob Julien with just the tip as he scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal for the Knights. While Jets 2023 1st rounder Colby Barlow had his goal streak snapped at five games. He finished with one assist last night for Oshawa.
Note V: We’ve got two hours of Jets talk coming your way on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show starting at 9 AM CST as we look back at the week that was in Jetsland while also getting you set up ahead of tonight’s game between Winnipeg and Montreal. Guests are Jim Toth of 680 CJOB and John Matisz of theScore.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Former Jets teammates glad to see Finnish sniper Laine happy and healthy with Habs. (Paywall). No surprise that they still hope for the best for a guy who spent years playing alongside them.
Sportsnet: Nikita Chibrikov proving he deserves to stay with Jets. It is an interesting conundrum for the Jets when they are healthy and have to make a decision as to whether or not to return the 2021 2nd rounder who wouldn’t require waivers or if they’ll put someone on waivers in order to keep him with the NHL club. Based on history the former seems more likely than the latter but we shall see if he can continue to do things to put this club in a position to have success or not.
Global News: Jets experience thrill of victory, agony of defeat. You win some, you lose some as the saying goes. But it’s also important to take away lessons from both experiences which it seems based on the conversation with Jets players on Friday that they have to some degree.
Jets audio:
