Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note: The Jets were off the ice on Monday but the team was still making moves as they swapped out a pair of prospects recalling Nikita Chibrikov (2021 2nd) and assigning Brad Lambert (2022 1st). Based on how head coach Scott Arniel spoke about Nikolaj Ehlers after the game on Sunday he doesn’t seem like he’s going to be back all that soon. Be sure to check back for the pre-game report for any updates. Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM and puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ struggles without injured Ehlers make case for re-signing pending UFA. (Paywall). Since he’s been out with injury the powerless power play has gone 2/15. While the organization has some nice pieces in the prospects cupboard they don’t have anyone that can replace him. At least not for 3-4 years.

Sportsnet: Troubling pattern starting to emerge for Jets. The Jets have gone from soaring like an eagle way above the rest of the NHL to more down to earth although because of their early season success they remain near the top of the league. Jacob looks at some of the things that have changed this team’s fortunes.

Global News: Jets’ Haydn Fleury plays unexpectedly important role. That’s just the reality of the NHL with the next man up mentality but it does seem to be asking him to play a role I’m not sure he’s best suited for.

Inside the Rink: Domenic DiVincentiis remains perfect with Norfolk. The first-year pro has made an impact at both the AHL and ECHL levels this season as he is currently down in Norfolk having quite the stellar run (6-0-0) on a club that has now won seven straight games.
