Note: Be sure to check out the CIRV stat which was produced by our very own Ezra Ginsburg. The CIRV or “Comeback Impact Ratio Value” is specifically what percentage of a player’s points occur when his team was behind.
Jets news:
The Telegram: IceCaps roster reduced to 30 players. Little surprised that Cody Sol was cut loose.
Winnipeg Sun: IceCaps Crunched in OT. The loss capped a 3 game losing streak for the Caps during the exhibition season. Regular season gets underway on Saturday against the Springfield Falcons.
Edmonton Sun: Winnipeg tunes into Eurovision. Easy to remember those great European players of the past who wore a WHA Jets jersey.
NBC Sports: KHL coach says Evander Kane is out of shape. Not great news for Jets fans, although perhaps some play in Siberia will have Kane getting into Rocky-like shape for whenever the 2012 NHL season gets underway. He is still firing off plenty of shots at the net but just doesn’t have any points for Minsk. Perhaps it is the coach’s (Kari Heikkila) way to motivate him.
CBA news:
Toronto Star: Talks likely Wednesday in New York. Well both sides are entitled to take off today since it is Thanksgiving in Canada and Columbus Day in the U.S. They have worked ‘tirelessly’ to this point and are well deserving of some much needed R & R. Please note the entire preceding sentence was laced with sarcasm.
National Post: The Stanley Cup doesn’t belong to the NHL. This position continues to be advanced but I’m not sure why as it will never, ever become reality.
New York Times: NHL replacement players would be illegal in two provinces. Since the players have no problems heading to Europe and Russia to take jobs away from other players, we guess in theory, they couldn’t get too upset about guys in North America taking their jobs.
Globe and Mail: Like him or loathe him, Bettman brings brains to bear. Shoalts with a detailed article on how and why Commissioner Bettman inspires loyalty or obedience in those he is surrounded by.
Globe and Mail: Lockout sympathy on NHL’s side…at least for now. Players or owners, which side are you on and why? We will have letters that IC received from fans in response to the lockout later today. We want to hear from you in the comments section.
NHL news:
Toronto Star: Markham’s power play – Arena promoter taking the biggest shot of his career. Not surprisingly, there are people on both sides of the issue who have very strong opinions about this arena deal.
Globe and Mail: Bauer aims to rebound from NHL lockout with lacrosse play. Looks like the #1 hockey equipment maker in the world is trying to skate by this lockout unscathed.
Lets Play Hockey: Does “All American” mean “not Minnesota high schools” ? Appears to be some controversy surrounding the game played last week.
