Note: The Jets were off on Thursday as they returned from Edmonton following their season opening 6-0 victory over the Oilers. The team did make some news as they placed Kaapo Kahkonen on waivers for purposes of assignment to the AHL and now we’ll find out at 1 PM CT whether he clears.

Note II: Today the Jets welcome the Hawks to town for their home opener. This morning they’ll skate at Canada Life Centre at 10:30 AM CT and all the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT.

Note III: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Chicago, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.

Note IV: The Moose ended training yesterday with an informative practice. They thereafter announced their 2024-25 opening night roster along with news they had released a player from his PTO and signed former Ice defenceman Graham Sward to an AHL deal. This morning they are off to Des Moines where they will kick off the season tomorrow night against the Wild in Iowa.

Jets news:

Global News: Winnipeg Jets’ dominant 3rd line unique in NHL. They certainly dressed to impress in game one of the regular season.

Daily Faceoff: Winnipeg Jets’ depth could take them far in 2024-25. Always take an early stomping over another team with a grain of salt.

Winnipeg Free Press: Physics a factor when Jets blue-liner unleashes cannonading slapshot. (Paywall). Jets haven’t had a booming slap shot from the blueline in awhile. Mike wrote about the science behind a clap bomb.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets tap Comrie as backup goalie to Hellebuyck. (Paywall). If you looked at the signs the last week or so there were some hints that this was the course of action the organization was planning on taking when it came to their goalie conundrum.

Illegal Curve Hockey: 3 Thoughts from the Jets dominant 6-0 win over the Oilers. Connor Hrabchak gave his takeaways from the win including: 1) Hellebuyck begins the year with a shutout. 2) Lowry line picks up where they left off last season . 3) Power play goes 2/3 in their first regular season test.

Jets video:

TSN: The Lowry line “set the tone” for the Winnipeg Jets in game 1 win. Director of Scouting Craig Button joined Jay Onrait to discuss with a focus on the third line and the play of netminder Connor Hellebuyck.
