Day 6 interviews: In case you missed anything from Tuesday we spoke with Nikolaj Ehlers (watch here), Cole Perfetti (watch here) as well as head coach Scott Arniel (watch here).

Note: The sixth day of training camp got started with the Jets making 12 cuts to the roster as they sent seven players to the Moose and five prospects back to junior. The bigger, more veteran group that skated later in the day worked mostly on special teams. We’ve got it all contained in the Day 6 report.

Note II: It’s a Jets gameday with Winnipeg hosting their second exhibition game of the pre-season as they welcome the Oilers to town. The game group hits the ice at 10 AM followed by the non-game group at 12 noon. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Perfetti relieved contract signed, ready to prove long-term worth. He sounded like a player who was ready to get to work and show the organization that he would have been worth a long-term gamble on.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets thinking outside the box in effort to improve special teams. (Paywall). Tossing Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor and possibly Nikolaj Ehlers was certainly an unexpected wrinkle to the normal players we’ve seen on the penalty kill in Winnipeg traditionally. 

Winnipeg Free Press: Perfetti settles for bridge deal, determined to prove long-term value to Jets. (Paywall). He definitely made it known that he wanted to be in committed to the city. That isn’t a small detail.

Sportsnet: How will Jets deploy Cole Perfetti after signing bridge deal? Seems safe to say that he will be a winger as outlined by Jets coach Scott Arniel on Tuesday.

Global News: Jets welcome back Cole Perfetti, drill down on special teams play. Given how poor the special teams were for large stretches of last season it would certainly make sense for the Jets to ensure organizationally they improve on both the power play and the penalty kill this season.
