Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Olli optimisticJokinen seems to echo a sentiment held by many that this lockout is indeed different that the one experienced back in 2004-05 which cost the NHL a season.

The Telegram:   Different players, same goalA couple of nice additions to an already talented AHL roster.

New York Times:  Evander Kane, combating boredom, goes to KHL. A more in-depth look at what the Jets sniper was up to before he left for Minsk.

Illegal Curve: Is Bryan Little a 2nd line center? Richard took a look at some numbers and evaluated where Bryan Little fits amongst NHL centers.

CBA news:

CBC:  NHL landscape littered with landminesElliotte Friedman provides some thoughts on the current status of negotiations and some of the difficulties experienced by both sides.

R-Sport:  KHL to Broadcast in USLooks like ESPN wants some hockey highlights.

New York Times:  Q. and A. With Biographer of Gary BettmanAn extremely interesting read which provides a bit more insight into the NHL commish, aside from the standard “boogeyman” refrain.

New York Daily News:  HRR definition and interpretations will be the focus as NHL and NHLPA resume meetings I would be incredulous that HRR is still not defined to the satisfaction of either side, if I had any expectations that the NHL or the NHLPA were interested in moving the process along quickly.

Star Phoenix:  Federko not on owners or players sideAlways interesting to hear what former players have to say about the current status of negotiations between the league and the players.  He is correct, of course, that the biggest losers are the ancillary workers who will be losing income that they likely cannot afford to lose.

National Post:  Wayne Gretzky believes NHL lockout will end by JanuaryThe Great One offers some optimism but much like Ron MacLean and other hockey insiders who are prognosticating an end to the stalemate, the only two who have any idea as to when the lockout might end are Donald Fehr and Gary Bettman.

Illegal Procedure: Winnipeg Blue Bombers Papers. If you are a fan of CFL football, check out our other site, which gives you all the latest Bombers news. Things are so tough, even the mascots are getting run over (literally).

Illegal Procedure:  Grey Cup Train Tour hits Manitoba.  In celebration of the 100th Grey Cup anniversary, the league’s coveted trophy is travelling across the country and making stops throughout each province for fans to catch a glimpse and join in the festivities.  The Grey Cup will be in Manitoba from October 3rd through to October 6th.

Illegal Procedure:  A Season on the Brink: When All Else Fails, RestartIn our modern and digital world, this word is synonymous with what one does when an update has been acquired and then installed in your computer. It is a rebooting of the system to stop what was happening, and initiate a new sequence with the intention of new outcome with an improved result. On Saturday night, within the first seven minutes of game, the Bomber defence handed the visiting Argonauts – in the same possession – not one, not two, but three restarts within the Bomber 25-yard line. This does not win football games.
