Note: The Jets were back on the ice on Thursday as they got set for tonight’s game 3 against the Avs in Colorado. While head coach Rick Bowness wouldn’t confirm any changes being official it sure seems likely you can swap Nate Schmidt for Logan Stanley. Morning skate for the Jets gets underway at 12:30 PM CDT (not yet confirmed). All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 9 PM CDT.

Note II: We want you to be part of the discussion after the final buzzer between Winnipeg and Colorado on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show. As well you are welcome to join us for puck drop at Boston Pizza on Taylor Avenue followed by a live version of the show.

Note III: The Moose season is now over. They threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Stars and specifically their netminder Remi Porier but they were unable to solve him despite the 42 shots they directed his way which allowed his club to win game 2 by a final score of 2-0 which was the final tally for the series as Texas takes the best of three play-in series with a sweep. Hard to believe that concludes our ninth season of our AHL coverage since the team returned to Manitoba. The season might be over but the Moose content is not. We will have exit interviews still to come so stay tuned for that. As well our end of season Moose roundtable will be coming your way at some point which means you better subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Hockey world loses a legend; Schmidt ready to ride in Game 3. Didn’t make much sense to me to play Dylan Samberg on his off side when he’s spent the majority of the year on the left and when you consider how his pairing with Nate Schmidt had looked good for most of the season.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets need more from Ehlers-Monahan-Toffoli trio to keep up with Avalanche firepower. A second line in the NHL isn’t there to tread water. They need to be bringing something to the table almost every single night.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets second line needs to start having impact. (Paywall). No room for passengers on this flight.

Winnipeg Free Press: Avalanche know they still have lots of work to do. (Paywall). Just once I’d like a team to say “actually we feel pretty confident we can beat them without the need to change a thing”.

The Athletic: Five keys for the Winnipeg Jets to get back on track against the Avalanche. (Paywall). Murat still has faith in the NHL club of Winnipeg and outlines his keys including: 1) Hellebuyck needs more boring. 2) Making the Avs worry. 3) Defending the rush. 4) The second line.

Sportsnet: Jets’ second line must take back depth edge to help wrestle home-ice advantage. I’m starting to sense a theme.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Jets’ Schmidt felt like Game 1 of the playoffs was on ‘drugs’. Nate Schmidt spoke to the media while the Winnipeg Jets got an off day. Schmidt was asked about the series and he mentioned that game one of the playoffs was crazy to watch.
