Note: The Jets unusual one-game road trip (which is really four games but they returned home yesterday after the game in St. Paul) was successful as they concluded their season series with a 4-2 win on Saturday afternoon which gave them a sweep over the Wild this season. Normally they’d have gone on to Nashville but the team returned to Winnipeg and will be off today. Then they will likely practice on Monday in Manitoba before departing for Tennessee where they will resume the road trip.

Note II: The Moose played a pretty solid game against a desperate Wolves team who came into the contest trailing Manitoba by seven points for the fifth and final playoff spot. It was a tight game through 40 but it looked like the home team would cruise to victory as they scored back-to-back goals to go up 4-2. However a quick strike response by Chicago saw them tie the game in 16 seconds and send it to extra time. While OT solved nothing it would require an eight round shootout which saw Jets draft pick Henri Nikkanen score a phenomenal goal (which I initially thought was a fluke but realized it was intentional watching the reply) for the 5-4 shootout win.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Fourth line magic recipe for Jets playoff success. When you have the luxury of trotting out guys who are all capable of playing on any of your other lines it makes for a potent fourth line as we saw on Saturday in St. Paul. Scott recaps the game.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ fourth line lifts Winnipeg to third straight win. Seems like just yesterday this team was mired in a losing streak. Fast forward a bit and boom now they’ve reversed course and are stringing wins together.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets tame Wild again. (Paywall). Ken was in St. Paul for the game and he provides his insight into what he saw from inside the arena.

Minneapolis Star Tribune: Wild lose to Jets again 4-2 despite Kirill Kaprizov’s two goals. Read about the game from the perspective of a writer that covers Minnesota.

Jets prospect news:

Winnipeg Sun: “This is the year”: Jets prospect McGroarty two wins from national title. Jets fans likely read that headline but after “This is the year” they insert “signs with the Jets” ha. The 2022 1st rounder has a big NCAA opportunity coming up.
