Note: The Jets were better in their 3-0 loss on Sunday to the Capitals than they had been in their two previous losses but that’s not exactly high praise given the result it a three game losing streak for the NHL club of Winnipeg. As mentioned yesterday the teams around them are all winning with Colorado now at nine straight wins, Dallas with four in-a-row and a juggernaut Nashville team who are just five points back having won five straight (but are 15-0-2 in last 17 games). The Jets are off today.

Note II:  The Moose were unable to maintain their pace they set for themselves in their 3-2 win on Saturday falling on Sunday by a final score of 5-2 although Jets prospect Brad Lambert continues to climb the All-Time Moose Rookie stats. It was a costly loss as a win would have put them four points back of the Stars in 4th place with a game in hand. They are off today but will be back on the ice on Tuesday as they prepare to face the Marlies this week to close out their six-game homestand.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Cause for concern or a good team in a rough patch? There are definitely some disturbing trends with this hockey club but at the same time

Winnipeg Sun: Capitals send Jets home with third straight loss. Scott recaps the action as the Jets lose their third straight game.

Winnipeg Free Press: Strong bounce-back by Jets still not enough. (Paywall). Mike give you his thoughts on the game from his spot inside the arena in D.C.

Winnipeg Free Press: Ovechkin continues to feast against Winnipeg, adding two more goals. (Paywall). It certainly was reminiscent of the days of the Southleast Division when Winnipeg first started in the league in a division with Washington. Ovechkin continued to torch the former team from Atlanta that was now in Winnipeg.

Washington Post: Alex Ovechkin scores twice as Capitals get pivotal win over Jets. Get insight into the game from a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

The Hockey News: Josh Morrissey eclipses last season’s breakout in shadow of Makar and Hughes. The impact number 44 has on a nightly basis is absolutely massive and if anyone thinks to minimize it, just imagine what this team looks like if he wasn’t in the lineup. Jacob with a good article on what he’s doing this year as a way of following up his brilliant season in 2023-24.
