Note: The Jets remain on their NHL Player Break although we shared a fun story yesterday of a pair of friends from Michigan who journeyed to Manitoba for the first time this past weekend to take in an NHL game in Winnipeg. They were able to return home to Detroit with great memories and new friendships. We also learned on Tuesday that multiple teams put in a claim on Declan Chisholm.

Note II: The Moose have officially revered course and started a winning streak as the AHL club of Manitoba picked up their third straight victory on Tuesday night which somewhat amazingly (considering they lost 11 straight) means they are just four points back of a playoff spot. They started quickly last night in Rockford scoring less than one minute into the game when Brad Lambert got his 13th of the season (see here) off a Nikita Chibrikov rebound. The next goal turned out to be the GWG for Manitoban Dawson Barteaux as the Pride of Foxwarren got his first (see here) as a Moose. It wasn’t all sunshine in the opening frame as Lambert was on the receiving end of this sandwich (see here) although he’d play the rest of the game. Jeffrey Viel pulled off this Plinko move (see here) to make it 3-1 for the visitors before Barteaux got his second of the game (see here) and third point of the night. Kyle Capobianco is now tied for top spot in the AHL for points (32) among defencemen. Manitoba has two players in Top 10 for AHL rookie points. The Moose are off today.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: How Connor Hellebuyck’s attention to detail drives his all-star success. Really interesting long read on the Jets top netminder.

The Athletic: Elias Lindholm trade proposals: 6 teams that could acquire the Flames center. (Paywall).  If I had to guess I think this has Boston Bruins all over it. Maybe Colorado Avalanche. Don’t see it for the Winnipeg Jets but he’s mentioned in this piece. Oddly they suggest Chaz Lucius (2021 1st rounder) as part of the package being sent to Calgary but neither Pronman or McKenzie mention his being done for the season. While that’s obviously not disqualifying for a team rebuilding you’d think it merits mention.

Sportsnet: What would second-half success look like for Canucks, Jets, Oilers, and Maple Leafs? The Hockey Central panel discusses what success in the second half of the season would look like for the Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
