Note: The Jets were off Sunday as they are currently on their Player Break but the organization did make some news placing defenceman Declan Chisholm on waivers. Personally I don’t think he clears as I think an NHL team gives the smooth-skating Dman a shot. Stay tuned for the announcement at 1 PM CST. (Update: He was claimed by Minnesota).

Note II: The Moose have flipped the script turning their losing streak into the start of a winning one after they picked up their second straight victory on Sunday afternoon. They outshot the Wolves 13-3 in the opening period but found themselves down 1-0 after 20 minutes. They got the game tying goal courtesy of the pride of Portage la Prairie Dean Stewart (see here) and then Kyle Capobianco did what he seems to do once or twice per game (although it doesn’t always result in a goal). This time it did and it turned out to be the game-winning goal for Manitoba and his 30th point (7G 23A) of the season which gives him the team lead in points. Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic made 18 saves in the victory. Given how things have gone late in games for Manitoba I really liked the way they protected the lead against the 6 on 5 to end the hockey game. Lots of poise. They are off today.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Mark Scheifele’s importance, impact evident in absence. I had a similar sentiment on the IC Post-Game Show following the Jets/Leafs game as it has been quite notable what has been ailing this Winnipeg club without number 55. It also shows how the team needs to augment the group by adding a capable 2C.

NorthWestern Ontario News: Fort Frances local adapts to changing social media trends for Winnipeg Jets. Cam is a good dude who has made some really great content for Winnipeg. Always nice to gain some insight into someone behind the camera.

Jets prospect news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets happy D-man Salomonsson showing snarky side in Sweden. (Paywall). Mike brings you up to speed with the latest news on a bunch of Jets prospects.

Jets audio:

Illegal Curve Hockey Show: Saturday Podcast. The topics covered in the show this past weekend included: Jets offence drying up. Team starting to get healthy. Does absence of Mark Scheifele illustrate that Winnipeg needs more centre depth. If making a trade for the Jets what is more critical, a 2C or top 4 right-shot Dman? Previewing the Jets/Leafs. Which Jets prospects are off limits? Our guests were Christian Aumell of CJOB 680 and former NHLer turned analyst Jeff O’Neill of TSN 1050.

Working hard on a daily basis to provide the latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news for our readers and listeners. I also appear on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show every Saturday on our YouTube channel as well as the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show after every single Jets game. And I occasionally jump in the play-by-play booth at Canada Life to provide colour analysis during Manitoba Moose games.
