Note: For the second straight game Jets lost a defenceman in a game against the Leafs (Brenden Dillon for the game) although it turns out that he tweaked something in his back and is expected to be ready to practice next week when the player/All-Star breaks conclude. However for the second straight game they lost to Toronto this time by a final score of 4-2. They are off for the next week.

Note II: The streak for the Moose is finally over as they picked up a big 5-3 win over division rival IceHogs in Rockford last night as they finally broke their 11-game (0-10-1) losing streak. They got goals from a pair of 2019 Jets draft picks in Simon Lundmark (here) and Ville Heinola (here). They Jeffrey Viel gave them a 3-2 lead (here), Kristian Reichel extended it to 4-2 (here) and then Parker Ford added some 3rd period insurance (here) to put an end to their losing streak. They are in Chicago this afternoon with puck drop at 3 PM CST.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ terrible power play to blame for third straight loss. One has to wonder if head coach Rick Bowness is happy with the structure and feels the execution is off but one thing is certain. The Jets are losing games/points because of their poor special team with the man advantage.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Perfetti navigating the ebbs and flows. Wonder how much of those ebbs are a result of the wrist injury he’s been dealing with this season.

Toronto Sun: Many Leafs break slumps in huge pre-break series sweep of Jets. The view of the game from someone who covers the Jets opponent.

NHL.com: Matthews scores 40th goal, Maple Leafs top Jets for 3rd straight win. The scoring pace the 2016 1st rounder is on this season is just remarkable.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Ranking the Winnipeg Jets’ top 10 trade assets: Which ones could be in play? (Paywall). While ideally you hold onto the prospects you’ve spent time and resources to develop you have to pay to play.

Brodie and Dylan Samberg’s penalty for slashing on John Tavares.
