Note: The Jets were off on Thursday as they returned home to Winnipeg following a very successful road trip which saw them go 3-1-0. They now kick off four straight at home starting with a battle for top spot in the division against the Avs on Saturday night. They did make one move putting veteran forward Dominic Toninato on waivers so they can get him down to the Moose (and reset the waiver clock). Today they are scheduled to practice at 11 AM CST. We should be getting an update on Ville Heinola and Rasmus Kupari who were skating and taking light contact on Wednesday morning as they work their way back from injury. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose concluded a week of practice on Thursday and welcome an old foe to town for a weekend set against the Admirals which gets underway this evening at 7 pm CST.

Note III: Reminder to join us tomorrow for a live broadcast at the Farmery Retail location at 2 Donald Street where we will be from 9 AM to 11 AM CST doing the Illegal Curve Hockey Show. Come down to say hello and get some IC beer. Obviously if you cannot join us live then join us on our YouTube channel here.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Confident Jets prove they’re among NHL’s best with successful Western swing. (Paywall). So far it’s just Dallas and Vegas who have confounded Winnipeg and even in some of those games they just fell short. There is no question the Jets are in that upper echelon of clubs in the Western Conference.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Where will the Winnipeg Jets find goals while Kyle Connor is out injured? (Paywall). Seems like the top line is volunteering themselves.

Jets official site: Jets depth key to early season success. The benefit is massive when you can add three players to your lineup and improve depth which was a weakness of this organization last season. Guess they are proving the old saying ‘three heads are better than one” to be accurate.

CBC: True North enlists business leaders to help sell Winnipeg Jets season tickets. That’s one of the more unusual headline’s I’ve read this season (if not ever). Fact is the Jets corporate sales are lagging well behind what is seen in other markets which is a big part of the current attendance issues. Given 85% of season tickets are owned by individuals that’s a pretty good showing by folks in Manitoba when you consider other markets have around 60% individuals to 40% corporate.

Jets video:

TSN: Canadian NHL teams with best shot to go deep in playoffs. The Oilers are surging, the Maple Leafs are racking up points and the Canucks are riding a win streak to remain strong in the daunting Pacific. Out of all the Canadian NHL teams, which ones are poised to go furthest in the playoffs? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button shares his list.

FloHockey: Jets prospect Rutger McGroarty at Team USA selection camp. Winnipeg’s top pick in 2022 has been dealing with an injury he suffered with Michigan and while he has yet to be cleared by team doctors it seems likely he’ll be heading over to Sweden with his American teammates. He spoke on day one of their selection camp.

Moose news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Learning name of the game for Moose. (Paywall). The good news for the next generation of Jets is they have a good coaching system in place who want to ensure the prospects develop and the rest of the players continue to improve as hockey players.
