Note: Day 1 of the NHL Draft was last night in Nashville which remarkably didn’t feature a single trade. Things moved rather smoothly (and quickly) as teams simply stepped to the podium to make their selections including the Winnipeg Jets who, with the 18th overall selection, took Colby Barlow from the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL. One person who was a smidge excited about the pick was TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button who said “It would be remiss of me not to tell you that in every single draft I have a hockey player crush. And for me that is Colby Barlow. There is no area of the game where he’s not dialed in to help you win.”. Following the conclusion of the Draft Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff spoke about the selection of Barlow and more.
Note II: Day 2 of the NHL Draft gets underway this morning from Bridgestone Arena and the Jets have no pick in the 2nd, 4th and 6th rounds but have one 3rd, two 5ths and one 7th. It gets underway at 10 AM. Be sure to stay tuned.
