Dmitry Chesnokov:  Good Deeds.  Chesnokov of yahoo.com, who has a close connection to the NHL’s Russian players, adds this interesting story about how Red Wings great Pavel Datsyuk was able to help out a current member of the Winnipeg Jets.

Team 1040 Sports Radio:  Evander Kane audio interview.   Evander appeared on the BMac and Taylor show to discuss a range of topics (interview starts at approximately the 10 minute mark) including the current status of the CBA, last season with the Winnipeg Jets and ends the interview with a brief response (not revealing anything) regarding the current status of his contract negotiations.

Winnipeg Sun: Jaffray sticking with IceCaps — and maybe Jets?  A solid utility player who can be called upon if needed.  Hopefully he can have an injury free 2012-13 season.

CBA news:

Boston Herald: Bruins hold out hope for deal.  For now the players stand united.  Will that remain once the money stops flowing and the lower tier players start needing that income source.

National Post: NHL, players seem to lack urgency in labour talks.  The September 15th date continues to creep up on us.  While normally I wouldn’t mind this as it is my birthday, I think I may be overshadowed this year.

Ottawa Citizen:  Little talk so far, but here’s what matters.  Meetings were cancelled on Wednesday afternoon and that is probably not a good thing. 

NHL.com: Top CBA negotiators meet, set stage for Thursday.  The focus on Thursday will be “core economic issues, as well as some systematic issues” according to Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly.

NHL news:

Phoenix Business Journal: Key dates approaching for Phoenix Coyotes in sale process.  Interesting to note that the new Mayoral candidates are anti-Yotes, so it appears that potential owner Jamison has until January 8th, 2013 (when new council gets sworn in) to get a deal done.

Edmonton Journal:  Oilers lock up Taylor Hall with seven-year, $42-million contract.  The leader of the next crop of Oilers young guns, they have locked him up.

Edmonton Journal:  Oilers prospect Yakupov fighting leg infection after tumbling off treadmill.  Speaking of Oilers prospects, it appears they had a scare with the 1st overall pick in the 2012 Entry Draft.

Toronto Sun: Doan deal?  The amount of money being thrown at Doan is almost comical.  Clearly this speaks to his loyalty to the Coyotes as he could have abandoned ship and been well compensated long ago.
