Note: The Jets were in Carolina last night to conclude their three-game road trip and thanks to some questionable play from their top line, shaky goaltending and defensive miscues they lost a winnable game 5-3. They are off today. They will be back in business tomorrow when they take on the Bruins in a one-game set at home before heading back out on the road.

Note II: The Moose have a big clash this evening at the Icehogs in Rockford as they look to get back on track after losing both games to the Wild in Iowa this past weekend. Puck drop is at 7 PM CDT.

Note III: The Winnipeg Ice matched their franchise best wins mark picking up their 53rd of the season in a 4-3 defeat of the Raiders in Prince Albert on Tuesday night. They matched the record they set last year. They are an impressive 53-9-1 (.849 winning %). They have five games left to set the record.

Jets news:

Global News: With a month left, Jets control their own playoff destiny. Who would have thunk it that the Preds and not the Flames are the team more likely to challenge the Jets for a playoff spot. This team can re-set the narrative with a big game against the Bruins tomorrow (who lost the Hawks 6-3 last night) and then a pair of divisional games over the weekend against the Preds and Blues.

Sportsnet: How the top line reacts to benching will determine the rest of the Jets’ season. There was a big stretch in the 2nd period where Scheifele, Connor and Niederreiter didn’t see the ice. Ken has more from his spot inside PNC Arena.

Winnipeg Sun: Turnovers cost Jets in loss to Hurricanes. The puck was like a hand grenade at times for the Jets and during those times when they made it difficult on themselves they didn’t have a goalie who bailed them out.

Winnipeg Free Press: Bowness sends a message. (Paywall). Mike took in the game live and he gives you his thoughts on the benching heard around Manitoba.

Winnipeg Free Press: Big, physical and hard to play against. (Paywall). Worth noting Mike wrote this story BEFORE the line was broken up last night. One thing Adam Lowry hasn’t had much of this season (aside from goals) are consistent wingers.

Global News: Jets road trip ends with 5-3 loss in Carolina. Another recap of last night’s hockey game.

News & Observer: Hurricanes find their offense, beat Jets 5-3 behind two goals from Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Always good to get insight into the game from a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

theScore: Niederreiter takes line’s benching in stride: ‘We didn’t deserve to play’. Good on him for standing up after the game to respond to questions about his line after a less than stellar couple of periods.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Can the Jets afford to give Hellebuyck anymore rest days before the playoffs? Luke Gazdic joins Sportsnet Central to discuss the playoff race in the Western Conference, whether the Winnipeg Jets can afford to give Connor Hellebuyck nights off, what the Calgary Flames need in order to make the playoffs, and more.

TSN: Sawyer: ‘The Jets paid for their turnovers a couple of times tonight’Kevin Sawyer joins Dan Robertson to credit the fight the Jets put up in a hostile arena in Carolina, explain why he felt the Nikolaj Ehlers-Blake Wheeler-Vladislav Namestnikov line was the best on the ice, and pinpoint the turnovers that proved costly for Winnipeg.
