Note: The Jets, not for the first time this season, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory although this defeat occurred in overtime so they at least walked away with a single point as they gave up their lead with ten seconds left in regulation and then saw the Sharks take it 3-2 in extra time. The team is scheduled to practice at 12 noon. Stay tuned for a Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose concluded a very good homestand (6-1-1) and spent Monday as a travel day as they left for B.C. where they will begin a seven-game road trip against the Canucks in Abbotsford. Puck drop is at 9 PM CST.

Note III: The Ice only have nine regular season games remaining and it will be eight after they host the Medicine Hat Tigers this evening in Winnipeg. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: Breaking down Winnipeg Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers by eye test, analytics and Rick Bowness’ impact. (Paywall). Perfect time for Murat to write this piece as it seems to be the big topic in Jetsland right now. Insightful as always.

Sportsnet: Following scratch, Jets’ Schmidt puts ‘a good foot forward’ in OT loss to Sharks. The veteran defenceman has a lot of pride and you expected him to bounce back. It was evident how much he relished scoring that go-ahead goal in the 3rd period.

Winnipeg Sun: Sharks put the chomp on Jets in OT. Have to give credit to Morweena, Manitoba’s James Reimer who was excellent in the hockey game last night.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Bowness “guiding” Ehlers through rough patch. He needs to be focused on more than just 27 cause there are a lot of top players on this team who are currently in a “rough patch”.

Winnipeg Free Press: Lowly Sharks take bite out of Jets. (Paywall). How many people truly thought that the second worst team in the Western Conference would defeat Winnipeg?

Winnipeg Free Press: Ehlers on ice? Curious usage raises plenty of questions. (Paywall). There has been quite a bit of talk about his ice time since his return from sports hernia surgery.

San Jose Mercury News: Reimer stands tall as Sharks stage dramatic comeback win over Jets. Get perspective on the game from a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

CBC: Winnipeg Jets owner True North considering purchase of Portage Place mallI walk through the mall all the time on my way to the Jets and Moose games and it is really a shame the state it currently is in as there is still a lot of possibilities with that space.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Jets fail to capitalize on dominant game, get chomped by Sharks in OT. Sean Reynolds and Ken Wiebe break down the Winnipeg Jets’ overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks, including James Reimer’s standout play in net and the Jets’ failure to convert on the power play.

Jets audio:

The Hockey News: What does Ville Heinola’s NHL future look like? Jacob and Patrick spent some time discussing the 2019 1st rounder of Winnipeg.
