Note: The Jets concluded their short, two-game homestand with a 3-2 shootout win over the Kraken last night as they were the final team in the NHL to play a shootout this season. Impressively they secured their 34th win of the season in game 54 which took them until gam 73 last season. They are scheduled to practice today at 11 AM before they head out on the road for four games. It is always possible they punt practice and take off for Columbus but if practice proceeds then check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: While the Moose were off on Tuesday there was some news as Axel Jonsson-Fjällby cleared waivers and was later assigned by the Jets to their AHL affiliate. His assignment gives Manitoba a tremendous amount of depth. The team lost goalie Arvid Holm to the parent club as he was recalled on an emergency basis due to Connor Hellebuyck being under the weather and we shall have to wait and see which goalie heads out on the road with Winnipeg. The Moose are in action against the Wild tonight in Winnipeg as they kick off eight straight at home. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Note III: The Eastern Conference leading Ice will conclude their homestand with a visit from the Broncos. This will be your last chance to see the top team in the east as they head out on the road for ten games after tonight’s contest. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM CST.

Jets news:

Global News: Jets fans can make home games difficult for visiting teams again. The Jets have certainly shown that Canada Life is an inhospitable place to play. While the building doesn’t have the same feel as when the team first came back or when they went on their long playoff run, it does feel a bit more giddy as Manitobans realize this team isn’t a mirage.

Sportsnet: Lowry channels inner goaltender, sparks Jets with pair of key blocks. The crowd loves a good fight and it was clear that they were truly appreciative of the effort made by number 17 in the 1st period when killing the Piere-Luc Dubois double minor. Ken has more on this sequence of plays as well as his thoughts on the contest.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets kiss off Kraken in first shootout of season. Despite leading in most metrics it looked like the Jets might be Philipp Grubauer’d as the Seattle netminder made 38 saves overall in the game. Check out Paul’s recap.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets grind out come-from-behind shootout victory over Kraken. (Paywall). Mike, who correctly predicted to us in the pressbox during the 1st period, that the game would go to a shootout, gives you his thoughts on last night’s game.

The Seattle Times: Strange goal doesn’t stand up as Kraken fall to Jets in shootout. Get insight on the game from the perspective of a beat writer that covers the Jets opponent.

The Athletic Winnipeg: 7 defenders for top pair or added depth. (Paywall). You can never have too many defenceman for a playoff run and Murat looks at seven potential targets for Winnipeg as the trade deadline gets closer and closer.

TSN: McLennan shares what the Jets’ top need is heading into the trade deadlineAfter completing the comeback in a shootout, TSN Hockey analyst Jamie McLennan explains why the Jets were able to come out on top against the Kraken, and shares what Winnipeg’s top need is heading into the trade deadline.

TSN: With the West wide open, should the Jets go all inWinnipeg Jets’ GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has historically been a conservative GM, but with the West wide open, and the Jets playing well, should Cheveldayoff push all his chips onto the table? TSN’s Mike Johnson and Craig Button discuss whether or not the Jets should go all in at the trade deadline.
