Comcast:  NHLPA’s counteroffer will determine path of talks.  As with any negotiation, you can expect something almost polar opposite of what we saw from the NHL.  And with the league trumpeting record profits for the last number of years, the players are going to be hard pressed to start agreeing to huge rollbacks of their % of profits.

NHL.com:  NHL, NHLPA discuss player benefits in latest session.  A number of CBA issues might just require some minor tweaking.

USA Today:  Tim Thomas stands with Chik-Fil-A.  Thomas is welcome to believe anything he wants, but you’d think that he would try and stay out of the spotlight for awhile.  Then again, with him taking a vacation from next season, perhaps he is looking for sponsorship opportunities.

Cherry Hill Courier Post:  Flyers’ Voracek reaps reward.  The Flyers, fresh from their Weber defeat, got around to signing one of their one RFAs.

FS West:  Kings backup Bernier is on L.A. time.  Is there a bigger stage than Hollywood for the former 1st rounder?

Detroit Free Press:  Bowman back behind bench for alumni game.  Could it be anyone else?  Wonder if Fedorov will bury the hatchet to come and play in the game?

News and Observer:  Canes sign forward Alexander Semin.  Add Staal and Semin to the Jets division rivals and you have a lot more to deal with 6 times next season.
